TAPI (The Arizona Partnership for Immunization) is a statewide nonprofit coalition of over 400 members. TAPI was formed in response to the alarming fact that in 1993, only 43% of Arizona\u2019s two-year-olds were fully immunized against preventable childhood diseases like measles, mumps, polio, and whooping cough.<\/p>\n

TAPI\u2019s mission is to foster community wellness, and advocate for good public policy and best immunization practices.<\/span><\/strong><\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n

Through the efforts of TAPI\u2019s partners from both the public and private sectors, immunization coverage rates in Arizona have improved dramatically, with nearly three in four children fully immunized by age two. Unfortunately, the problem never ends. Babies are born in Arizona each year, and none arrive immunized.<\/p>\n

TAPI focuses on advocacy, community awareness, and education to promote immunizations and public health. We advocate for evidence-based health policies, offer free educational materials to raise vaccine awareness, and host the Big Shots for Arizona Awards Dinner to honor those improving immunization rates. Additionally, we provide training for parents and healthcare providers on immunization practices and run a billing program to help public-sector health programs obtain insurance reimbursements.<\/p>\n

We are guided by our members and hold various committee meetings on a monthly or bi-monthly basis that our members attend. Our committees consist of:<\/p>\n

Advocacy Committee<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Health Professional Vaccine Advocacy Group holds monthly calls during the legislative session to discuss vaccine related bills and other political issues impacting vaccinations.<\/p>\n

Community Awareness Committee<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Community Awareness Committee (Adult & Childhood) works to increase awareness, provide education about childhood, adolescent, and adult immunizations, and to develop strategies to support local & community-based efforts. The committee meets monthly.<\/p>\n

Provider Education Committee<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Provider Education Committee works to ensure that the health care providers of Arizona are fully informed about childhood and adult immunizations. The committee focuses on improving the quality of immunization data in Arizona, including development of statewide immunization coverage level assessment process that involves both the public and private sector. The committee meets bi-monthly.<\/p>\n

Steering Committee<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Steering Committee with Executive Leadership Board\u00a0<\/b>develops, supports and manages senior medical leadership public policy efforts, partnership development and general statewide collective immunization goals. Members are appointed and confirmed to sit on this committee.<\/p>\n

Goals<\/strong> – To deliver age-appropriate immunizations to at least 90% of Arizona’s two-year-old children before their second birthday by 2030 and to encourage appropriate immunizations throughout the lifespan.<\/p>\n
